CIS refund for Ltd company subbie

company closing

Didn't find your answer?

we have a ltd company subcontractor client who is wanting to close down their company now.

They are going to be due a considerable CIS refund for tax stopped at source, if the company closes now, is there a way to reclaim the refund now?? obviosuly we'd ordinarily claim in April once the PAYE year has ceased

thanks in advance

Do not strike the company off and do not close the PAYE scheme
It is company money and will not be refunded if the company does not exist

Any reason for the desperate urgency?

Great advice Paul and I would add - don't close the company bank account down either otherwise you'll have major issues getting any money back!

You can claim. Getting HMRC to send you the money is a different matter.

As Paul says, don't give them any excuse not to pay out.
