Claiming home working allowance

Claiming home working allowance

Didn't find your answer?

Hi everyone

My clients are a married couple who are employed and worked from home during tax year 21/22. The employer didnt reimburse them this expense. They also have a rental property which they jointly own. Can they claim both home working allowance from their employement income and property rental income?

Thanks for your advice

Two completely different claims
One is employment, OK
Other is rental expense, how exactly is working from home relevant?

You don't mention the capacity in which they receive rental income ... but, as Paul indicates, it's not likely to be as an employee is it?

However, irrespective of the different types of allowances & claims relevant to different taxpayer statuses, the fundamental question remains:
* How were clients 'working from home' in two entirely distinct properties?

There is no WFH allowance for property income, so no.
