Class 2 Tax Return Adjustments

Anyone else getting issues with these?

Didn't find your answer?

Good morning,

We are having a few issues with 2016 tax returns regarding Class 2 NI. We've had a few adjustments by one week (£2.80) where the software we were using to submitt seemed to be out by a week (update fixed this), but today had 2 where HMRC have altered the class 2 liability to zero 'based on the records they held'. After a call to the agent line, they say that this is 'probably' because the NI office dont have a liability recorded for the dates... In both cases they were self employed all year.

Is anyone having these issues / any tips on avoiding this?

Regards

Yes. I've just posted this in another any answers question where they were having issues with HMRC/class 2...

I have submitted returns to HMRC showing that full class 2 NIC was payable for the year and this was reflected in my own tax calculations, but they amended the return so that class 2 was not due.

I have informed each client that HMRC may come knocking for the class 2 NIC when they realise.
