CLIENT AUTHORISATION PECULIARITY

Not had this before

Didn't find your answer?

Completed on line authorisation procedure. Client receivd the number, which I entered on HMRC website on 21/02/19. This afternoon I found the client details are now on my client list. I attempted to talk to the agent hot line about the client to be told they aren't yet authorised to speak to me and won't be until 1st March

How many systems have they got ? I despair when I can see the client they can see the client but they won't talk to me. Very joined up

Too many and none talk to each other. Still as we keep saying "This'll be a thing of the past with MTD"

Last time this happened to me the adviser told me they needed a paper 64-8 as well as the online authorisation.

That's obviously not true but once they've stated their position you just need to hang up and then maybe try again, or find another way.

This week we've had two issues with PAYE:

- A long standing client, last week over the phone HMRC told us we were not agent although we were looking at the online account at the time, then they proceeded to talk to us about the client. This week online access has been changed to Limited Authorisation, last week we had full access.

- A new client, went through online authorisation, entered code yesterday and appears on list today as Limited Authorisation.

In both cases the explanation given is that we have limited authorisation because we filed form FBI 2 (we didn't) and we should use the online authorisation to get full access (which we have already done)
