Hi all,
I searched the oldest questions regarding closing a company but I didn't find answer to my question, so will be happy if someone can help me.
I need to support a friend of mine who wants to close his company. The company is new ( opened few months ago), doesn't have bank accounts or assets. My question is do we need to inform HMRC that we would like to strike off the company and do we need to submit CT return to them or just notice to Companies house will be enough?
Thank you.

That is very odd. Are you sure that all mail sent to the company's registered office has been seen and dealt with?
The point is that HMRC will either:
Have sent a letter to the company saying that it seems to them that the company is not yet trading and they will not require returns until they are notified that it is, which the company must do forthwith when it commences;
Or:
Issue the company with a notice to submit a return
If it is the former I would be relaxed about striking the company off without telling HMRC, but not if it is the latter. If it really is neither I would proceed on the basis that it is the latter.
You may need to tell HMRC so that they don't object to the striking off. Or they may not object anyway.
It's all a bit random.
