We currently use MoneySoft Payroll Manager for directors (and family) pay runs. Typically, these are the salaries for £11,500 and £8,165 for companies with just directors and company secretaries. The software works well for us. One problem is that it doesn't do ANNUAL schemes. We use HMRC tools for the annual PAYE schemes we operate. For our more complex payrolls we use Xero. Ideally, we would like to run all the payrolls on Xero but the subscriptions costs have proved be too prohibitive on our smaller "cashbook" jobs.
We love MoneySoft but the practice is growing and we need to move into a cloud platform to allow easier collaborations with the team and away from a desktop to suit the modern working practices of the firm. Can anyone recommend a low-cost cloud payroll software that would be suitable to prepare 50 monthly/annual payrolls for directors upon please?

There are a number of cloud payroll soultions on the market, the problem is they are all expensive.
Use Brightpay, it is not a full cloud product but you can use it in a hybrid way. You can store the data file in the cloud but just use it as a standard desktop way with data saved back to cloud backup.
This allows you to install the package on your laptop and desktop so you can work anywhere.
Its £200 per year, you could probably transfer your moneysoft stuff over also.
it does annual pay and allows you to submit it in a batch to RTI.
I think cloud payroll is a dumbed down version of desktop products and as the charges can be quite high as you point out.
I use BrightPay and store my data on Microsoft's OneDrive so can run payroll wherever I am with my laptop. Win-Win
A Brightpay licence can be used up to 5 times as far as I'm aware so more than enough for 3 users to have access.
Bright pay doesn't licence like that each client has a login but the software is multi user and you installs it on multiple devices
You just back up the data to the cloud
Brightpay does annual pay. You can move your files from basic tools in a couple of seconds. As far as I’m know you can import from other payrolls easily enough too. It is desktop based but we use dropbox to share files ‘in the cloud’. I’ve just started using their Brightpay cloud/ connect option for two clients which is cloud based. I can send payslips and reports directly to employees and clients in cloud. So far so good.
You can use one bureau licence for five users and for any number of clients.
we use My Paye for our payroll bureau and it is a cloud payroll . It is a excellent piece of cloud software .
