With DC as Foreign Secretary is it now time for George Osborne to return as Financial Secretary to the Treasury so that he can take all the credit due for the success of MTD as it enters its final stages? Surely if you wind the clock you deserve to hear it chime?

Yes; and Gideon was also responsible for the 2019 LC (and therefore all the suicides therefrom) plus the 20% tax deduction restriction for landlords.
He obviously is not bothered with autobiography sales whereas DC foresees volume 2's creation after they lose the next election. (Maybe he can write it as he goes along, possibly whilst he sits on all the long haul flights that go with the gig, thus avoiding future writer's block)

You and your clients really got stuffed on that didnt you?
Eh? So your comment applies equally to all tax barristers and top City tax lawyers who agree with me that the LC was ill-conceived and to the families of all these suicide victims? You're clearly a really nice intelligent bloke.

You can see here how Gideon's BTL tax hit adversely affected things from 2016 onwards (causing current record rents for tenants): https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/buytolet/article-12743015/More-landl...
What have you got against Tunnocks?
Typical Westminster, they attacked Scotland first with the "Community Charge" and then they go for our teacakes. Are they trying to break the Union?
As a former British politician and newspaper editor (to name but two posts that Gideon has held) I can only imagine that GGO could consider becoming Rishi's carer.
Presumably, he'd have to be elevated to the Lords, first?
The shenigans of the British Political system. If only number 10 could write its' memoirs.
