Community Benefit Society iXBRL - Has anyone

Community Benefit Society iXBRL - Has anyone come across software that does this sort of company?

Didn't find your answer?

We have been asked to file the CT return for a Community Benefit Society incorporated as a Ltd Co with the FCA and therefore no directors, just management committee. None of the major CT filing software seems to deal with the tagging for such an entity.

Has anyone seen or dealt with the tagging for one of these rather awkward beasts?

I submitted returns recently for 2 of these clients with accounts attached as a PDF. Is that not an option?

I believe the answer is that the CT600 return (including any Supplementary Pages) must be supported by an iXBRL tax computation tagged in the usual way except that the context entity identifier is not as for a company incorporated under CA 2006 (i.e. the CRN) but is a one to five digit number followed by a suffix of one to four upper case characters. Example: 12345R. The Identifier scheme URL is http://mutuals.fsa.gov.uk/. You can find more information at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/xbrl-tagging-context-entity-i.... In particular, see the fifth row of the table in section 3.

As for the accounts, these must be in iXBRL too since the exceptions for filing PDF accounts do not appear to apply. More details can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/fil....

I had a similar query a few years ago (when I worked for one of the major tax and accounts software vendors) but in that case (and it may be in your case too), the entity was incorporated under the Friendly and Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1968 and only had its original reference number, which was not in the same format as references under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014.

That Act replaced the previous ‘industrial and provident society’ legal form with two new legal forms: Co-operative Society and Community Benefit Society.

More about the Act can be found at https://www.fca.org.uk/firms/registered-societies-introduction/co-operat....

Providing the CT tagging software can cope with different context entity identifiers, it should not be problematic to file a CT return online.

Now sorted
A: attach pdf to the CT600

This is despite being told several times by HMRC operatives that it would be rejected and iXBRL was mandatory.

On Wednesday, I had a return call from someone at HMRC (on a different issue) who knew his ar$e from his elbow and he was able to supply the correct answer to both. He also pointed out that he was unable to trace anything on the internet that might indicate this when asked the question recently!

Attach a pdf of what to the CT600? The tax comp or the accounts or both?

I use Taxfiler and I had no problems attaching the accounts as usual.

Hi,
Just wandering if HMRC still accept pdf accounts for a Community Benefit companies or can someone recommend accounting or ct software that will tag these accounts to ixbrl format?
