COMPANIES HOUSE APP FOR APPLE & ANDROID

The Companies House android and Apple App has disappeared from the App Store

Didn't find your answer?

The companies House App has been invaluable.

We add all your clients in to the favourites list and in seconds we can filter in order of accounts or confirmation statements due.

We have/use it on 2 iPhones as well as on the office iPad. Problem is both the office iPad and iPhone are old. The iPhone stopped working (WhatsApp stopped working) so we bought a new phone, an iPhone 11. But, when we carried out the transfer from the old iPhone 6s Plus the Companies House App didn't transfer.

Does anyone know what has happened with that App ? There are other Non government Apps available but they're utter rubbish compared to this one; they're too slow with updating etc .

we tried calling companies house but their call handlers said they didn't know there was an App. I believe it to be 100% a Companies House owned App.

can anyone help ?

I can still use it on my iPhone and on an iPad but I’m baffled as to where it’s gone now. No one else has asked the question on here hence my attempt today.

Yes I found that out when I replaced an old phone about a year ago. The app was removed from the App Store many years ago but anyone already having installed it could continue using it.

I use an App called "Company Tracker" which does enable you to save company clients as favourites (although not in alphabetical order, just input order) and it then separately lists the filing deadlines in date order (CS and accounts).

I'm sure there are other similar apps but this one is free to use, you just need to ignore adverts when you view previously filed accounts, etc.

Thanks but this is not what I want as it’s not fit for purpose. I have found all the other Apps are as half baked as an excel spreadsheet. I can’t comprehend why the actual APP is not available and Companies House have not, this far, given any response in this regard.

It’s like the call handlers are in some stepford wives’ cult; all state we never had an app!

Sorry to be miserable about this but no one has made an app as efficient as the Companies House App . If for example, we want to call 8 clients in a slot of say, half an hour to file they’re (no change) confirmation statement; it’s super easy with this App as it ‘drops of’ filed ones from the list in literally 2 minutes. The same applies for filing if say 9 or 10 or 30 clients Micro Entities or Abridged accounts filings; the App updates the accounts status fast, in minutes, so you know which are left to file without the faffing about.

I think Companies House didn't think many people used the app and indeed it really only would benefit accountants who need to keep track of a number of companies. I think it was stopped years ago so no wonder the call handlers don't know anything about it.

That app I mentioned does update quickly, sometimes it updates quicker than the Companies House website! It's up to you what you use but I agree you need some sort of tracker and the old Companies House app was great ... I too was miffed when I found out last year I couldn't use it on my new phone.

I have started communication with Companies house so I do hope I can get some more information from them. I am
glad that you responded here as I feel a tad better knowing someone else valued this App as I do.

There are ways of copying app files over direct from one device to another, thereby bypassing the app store and allowing you to keep using discontinued apps. Certainly I have done it on Android devices, but there is some software called 'iMazing' which claims to be able to do it with iOS. I haven't tested it myself, but might be worth a try?

Thank you, I will definitely have a look at this. We basically left both iPhones next to each other and restored the back up on to the new iPhone 11 (the back up from
the iPhone 6) from iCloud yet this app didn’t appear after the restore on the new iPhone

I think the issue with that method is that what it does in reality is just copy a list of apps from one phone to another. The new phone then re-downloads the apps on the list straight from the app store, which if the app in question is no longer on the app store it won't work. What you need to do is find the actual files for the Companies House app on your old phone and manually copy them accross to the new phone. I gather that iMazing can do that for you, but not owning any Apple devices myself I can't test it.

Hi Ohorad44
Unfortunately, I haven’t managed to move forward despite all the efforts of other responders on this thread.
I am still using the companies house app on my iPhone and as you will know, it updates in under a minute when I have filed accounts or confirmation statements. Companies House have been ignoring my request for an explanation. This far they’ve not responded to my request for information regards the Apps disappearance.
There are other apps but not of the standard one needs when trying to file multiple company accounts one after the other.
Sorry you are experiencing the same crap.
I have a very well laid out excel spreadsheet (with filters) that details clients company number authentication code, last confirmation statement date and accounts due date bla bla
We keep that Right Up to date now so that there’s nominal chance of missing a deadline and it seems to work.

Hi ohorad44
Thank you for sharing this information. It would be incredible if I could install the Original Companies House App on to the office iphone.
I will try to figure this out now.
Is iMazing an App or a web page ?
Thank you for your advice

I personally think it's pretty poor TBH and shant miss it if it gets deleted next time i change my phone.

On that note, anyone want to buy a battered iPhone 12, with CoHo app pre-installed? I'll start the bidding at £1,499 ;)

Poor compared to which App, do tell ?
I can’t find any app that updates within minutes of filing. Others take days and they’re messy. It’s not a main database; it’s simply a method to quickly filter through what has and hasn’t been filed.

Poor as an app. I have it, sometimes use it, often just launch a browser instead if i want to look anything up.

Then again, I'm not trying to use it as a job or deadline tracker - I just use it for looking up companies in a minority of cases.

Hi

Shameless plug, can I put my own app up for you to try out this functionality?

It’s called FastUKCompanySearch ( https://FastUKCompanySearch.com) , available on both iOS and Android( 100+ reviews and a 4.6/5 star rating).

You will be able to import your favourite companies through a CSV and on the favourites screen you can sort your favourites by confirmation statement or account returns date.

There are plenty of other features too, like due date reminders and live company document filing updates.

Hasham

Thanks for trying it out :)

The app requires free registration after a certain number of favourites have been added (it just needs the email to register and the email is only ever used for app related comms, never for marketing)

Most app users upload favourites through a CSV if there are several of them.(Up to 200 favourites can be added every 10 min).
