Companies House - 'lost' accounts

Companies House - 'lost' accounts

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

Is anyone else experiencing problems with Online filing of abbreviated accounts at Cos House? - I filed a set for one of my clients on 20 July, received the e-mail confirming their receipt by Cos House, but did not receive an e-mail accepting or rejecting the accounts.

I have e-mailed Cos House twice (no replies) and phoned twice - they tell me the accounts have been received but are 'stuck' in the system - their IT department are looking into it.

I don't really understand how this sort of problem can happen when I used their download to file the accounts in their format, and as far as I am aware this system has been working fine for quite a long time now.

My client (and I) are getting a bit fed up with this issue, and the time I have had to spend chasing Cos House and reassuring my client that there is no problem with the accounts (the filing date has now passed and they have already received one letter from Cos House chasing the 'overdue' accounts and warning of Penalties!).

Companies House

Ask to speak to their legal dept and explain the problem to them. That usually sorts matters quickly

No legal department

Hi

Many thanks for your replies.

Just tried phoning and asking for their legal department - advised their isn't one.

Explained situation yet again to the helpful young man on other end of the phone - left on hold again while he talked to the compliance case officer.

I now understand the problem occurs sporadically and they are not sure why, but basically they cannot 'release' the accounts for filing without losing the data! - this has happened before but they are still working on the 'fix'

Well, at least I now understand the problem a little better and have reassurance that the accounts will be filed eventually, not be chased further and no penalties will be issued - and they will let me know when it is resolved.

Not the first IT hiccup from CH

We use Iris company formations and tried to form a company last week, had something wrong on the form, fixed it and tried again but wouldn't go through. Turned out Companies House were issuing rejects references that were 9 digits long though they told Iris they can only be 8!

Companies House

I just called CH and asked for the legal dept.I was told that if I quoted the company number they would put me through.

CH definitely have a legal dept. They are the ones who sue you for not filing accounts and other naughties.
