Coronavirus - Financial Services Key workers

Would work carried out by external accountants such as payroll teams be classified as key workers?

Didn't find your answer?

Within the stated guidelines it refers to some keyworkers in financial services with the following text:

This includes staff needed for essential financial services provision (including but not limited to workers in banks, building societies and financial market infrastructure).   Would you consider payroll staff to be essential financial services provision?

Well if these payroll staff process pay for workers then I'd imagine the answer is yes, otherwise how are people expected to work without being paid.

I think its open to interpretation so you can make a rational decision yourself.

No - where do you stop? People who empty their bins...

I think you will find that those who empty bins are much higher up the essential scale!

So paying staff who should be working is akin to emptying office bins. Right OK.

Do you have an insight in to how these key workers will be paid if no one is there to process payroll?
