HMRC are quoting periods of three months, now. How on earth can that be right in the modern computerised age.
No amount of incredulity seemed to phase them.

It's a small variation on the usual fuss about how long it takes large organisations to pay small ones. You know, that one where every so often a member of the government will pop up and say how unacceptable it is.
But surely this represents unjust enrichment of HMRC. Money that is not theirs, and that they know not to be theirs is being retained and used by them.
My Ltd company was due a CT refund from the 2016 year's CT for a loss for the 2017 year. We received the refund in a few weeks.
That's as maybe, but if you ring the CT helpline, it's clear that they expect refunds to be made within 30 days. 3 months is far less palatable.
