cyprus resident

double tax relief

Didn't find your answer?

I have a client who is resident in cyprus, I fill out his uk tax return and put on it his income from uk property.

In previous years this income has been covered by his personal allowance, this year its just exceeded it so he has approx £700 of uk tax to pay.

Am I correct in thinking that as he is resident in Cyprus he claims double tax relief for this on his Cyprus Tax Return ?

Thanks

Jon

It depends on the tax treaty, and under which article this particular income falls. In any case, you cannot have double relief usually, only get a credit so you do not pay twice. But perhaps that is what you meant...?
