I have taken on a new client who works in the oil industry and is based in Qatar. Whilst most of his work is carried out on oil rigs, he spends 20-30 days a year in an office in Qatar. He claims he is entitled to claim an allowance of £100 a day when he is not on the rig (in Qatar not the UK), without having receipts. He operates as a limited company and spends six month a year in the UK.
He has been told this from other contractors whom he works with as they were shocked at the level of CT he pays.
I have never heard of this allowance but don't have any other clients in his position. Does anyone know if he is correct and/or have any relevant documentation?
