VT have just announced that they are integrating MTD. Works for me!

Me too! Absolutely delighted that VT will now have MTD integrated and I will be recommending it to my clients. No cloud, no hard-sell from you-know-who, no committing to contracts to be paid monthly by direct debit with either no support or costly and restricted support and annual hikes once customers are committed....
While I still believe it is extreme dictatorial behaviour on the part of HMRC to decree how businesses must maintain their records, VT's decision to integrate is a positive step to helping small businesses cope.

MTD uses the open authorization system. That means that any system has to have at least one step where a third party is given access to the tokens that enable obtaining information about the VAT account and submitting data. Hence there has to be at least one step involving the use of web interfaces (where you sign on to HMRC's gateway and give permission for vat read and write scopes).

I have done a video about how Open Authorization works with HMRC here:

Indeed, and bells and whistles (eg bank feeds, SageDrive, cloud backup - you don't have to use any of these features - they're there if you want them).

So they're only doing it for £8 + vat per month. This deal gets better each time you post.
