Please note that posting as an anonymous user is reserved for sensitive content that you need help with but don't want people to know who you are.

However, it will also mean that other users will not be able to get in touch with you or see your history on the site and therefor might not be as willing to provide you with a reply.

Any abuse of the ability to publish anonymously will not be tolerated and offending users will be banned from AccountingWEB.

I know you regularly post this.
There are occasions when some of us mortals choose to use anonymous where we are asking a question that we feel we should probably know the answer to, have researched and keep hitting dead ends or are finding conflicting advice. It might be that we don't want an end client to know we are struggling to answer their question, we don't want a rival accountant to know our weaknesses. Or when we are responding to others' questions where we do have insight, we want to be seen as credible.
To me this sounds like this would fit into that situation, smaller practitioners might not work on medium size accounts very often and the OP just wants to check.

The wording is the exact wording shown on the "Ask your question" page. All Accountant A is doing is drawing that to the attention of posters that might not have seen it.

I don't see this as especially unreasonable. Those who are using anonymous legitimately can safely ignore it. Those who have used it by accident (like the OP that asked for people to PM them) will be alerted to the issue.

Those abusing the facility may or may ignore it, but at least they won't be able to say they didn't see the notice if challenged.

As you say, AA regularly posts that Sift warning. Rightly so, since some "Anonymous"es confess to not having previously seen it (and there's no way of AA knowing whether they have before he posts).

It's obviously a copy-and-paste job from Sift, because it contains the Sift spelling mistakes. As such, it should not be offensive to any of us to see it again.

And, presumably, since you appear to have used the facility and not been evicted, your use was not seen, by Sift at least, as an abuse.

So we're all good.

"Any abuse of the ability to publish anonymously will not be tolerated and offending users will be banned from AccountingWEB."

Is there "any" evidence that abuse of the anonymous feature, has been "Policed"?

Most of the avatar's, in use on Aweb, provide more than sufficient anonymity, from what I can see.

Not public evidence. But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, just that Sift doesn't publicise it if it does.
