Director's obligation to complete a SA Tax Return

Director's obligation to complete a SA Tax Return

Didn't find your answer?

I know that HMRC states that (most) directors should complete a SA Tax Return, but I don't know of a statutory requirement.

Is there such a requirement if no tax liability exists please?

(HMRC wouldn't quote me a section number and referred me to their website.)

No

HMRC want one and if they issue one you have to let them have it. But if there's no liability to report then you don't have to ask them to send you one.

"All directors have to do TRs" is HMRC guidance, not law

I think we ought to have this as a header statement on the Aweb home page along with the other 5 top answers

Thanks for your comment "bernard michael".

It seems that I need assistance with how to perform a search of this site as when I searched for "Does a director need to complete a tax return" I found nothing of use. Could you help me out please?

But actually I was looking for a statutory reference. I assume from your post that there isn't one.

Thanks

Cancelled S/E

I've had a letter from HMTC saying that a client no longer has to submit a tax return.  She is a director along with two others, and she is the only one to have had such a letter.  I this becoming more common I wonder?
