Director's report required for micro entity?

Didn't find your answer?

Can anyone tell me definitively whether or not FRS 105 micro entity accounts need to include a director's report?  I've found an article on Accounting Web which says yes, and a factsheet from ICAEW that says no.  I can't see any mention of a director's report in FRS 105 itself.  With our accounts production software: a director's report was not included, now there's a template update and it is included, although I think this may be a fudge relating to the iXBRL accounts.

Does anyone know for sure?

I think the relevant info is in CA2006 http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/46/section/415 - seems to explicitly scope out micros from the duty to prepare a directors' report.

A directors report for a micro-entity is not required for periods starting on or after 1 January 2016.

Even if you prepare one, there's nothing left to put in it.

It is an iXBRL fudge, because the numpties at HMRC won't accept an iXBRL file without a tag telling them the date on which the directors report was approved!!

You couldn't make this nonsense up.

Indeed. I've prepared two sets of FRS105 accounts without a directors report, and had HMRC stupidly reject them both. I had to resubmit them with a 'fake' directors report to get them through.
