Disclosure under let property declined - why?

Didn't find your answer?

I’ve disclosed 6 years of rental income for a client going back the last six years. Had a response to say they cannot accept the offer as the income for 2016/17 and 17/18 should be included on tax returns for those years. I thought the let property campaign could be used for these years?

Sounds like Tax Returns have been issued for those years.

Yes but the tax returns were issued after the client had told HMRC they would be making a disclosure via the let property campaign

Might have helped if you had said that. When did you first contact HMRC about the disclosure? They do sometimes like the latest year in the disclosure to be declared on a Tax Return.

2018/2019 was declared in a tax return. April 2013 onwards were via the let property campaign. They were contacted in November 19.

Speak to them, they can probably sort it out on the phone, but i would have thought 17/18 would be on a return.
