Dissolving an LLP allows me to stop filing taxes?

I'm a non-citizen, and I have an LLP in the UK. If I dissolve that LLP, can I stop filing taxes?

Didn't find your answer?

I'm a non-citizen, and I have an LLP in the UK. If I dissolve that LLP, can I stop filing taxes in the UK? It's complicated, and all of my tax filings would just be 0s. Also, I think I would also have to state my local income and how many days I have worked outside of the UK, which I would prefer not to do.

So basically you want to avoid your UK tax liability by dissolving your LLP?
I don't think so

And btw, it's tax residency and domicile that determine whether you are in scope for UK taxes - not citizenship.

The only connection I have with the UK right now is that LLP. I don't want to avoid any tax liability, but I don't conduct any business there thus I won't have to pay any taxes (even right now, with a 0 LLP, I just have to file a blank sa800 and sa100). I just don't want to deal with this for the rest of my life.

That's a somewhat different question.
If your LLP is dormant and has no assets, then yes, go ahead. If it has assets or liabilities, you need to deal with those first

We created it for an idea that was scrapped soon after incorporation. No assets, no liabilities. It's not the annual software fee that bothers us, but rather the time it takes to file a blank tax report every year. Still have to review it + we are afraid of making mistakes in it and having to deal with penalties.

Why? I don't live in the UK, I don't work in the UK, even with this LLP I only have to file a blank sa800 and sa100 every year. I don't want to avoid paying taxes, I just don't want to submit blank tax filings every single year for the rest of my life.

Why do you (and your partner/s) have an LLP? This may help us answer your question.

To confirm, if your LLP has never traded, has no assets or liabilities, nor employees, then there's no obvious reason why you shouldn't dissolve it.
