Document Management & Scanning documents with OCR

Recomendation for scanning documents

Looking for ideas where you can scan client documents/correspondence and storing them on your server and then being able to search for documents using specfic words or phrases

Anyone using such a system?

We have a scanner in the office that can scan the documents to PDF, but you cannot search for specific words on the scanned documents

Also, our scanner just gives the document a generic name such as scan.pdf. We then have to manually rename the document.

Is there an easier way to scan and automatically name a document from the content of the scanned document?

A scanned document should be searchable. It sounds as if they are being scanned as images. There should be an OCR option unless your scanner/software is very ancient.

You could always use something like Adobe Acrobat DC to perform OCR on any documents after the event if your scanner doesn’t do it, Adobe is only £12pm for the whole software package so extremely good value.
