Don't you just love Farage

So much for democracy

Didn't find your answer?

Parachutes himself in as leader of reform and candidate  for Clacton. What sort of egotistical nonsense is that? I remember when Frinton was dry...

Personally, I’m not interested in random political debates on this accounting forum. If that’s what interests you, there are a million and one other places provided for that.

Nige could always pop into Jaywick for his trademark pint. Or Clacton for a milkshake!

I wonder if he ever drinks pints when the cameras are not there.

As a city boy when not cosplaying "man of the people" I had him down more for a G&T or campagne.

Like Wilson who much preferred cigars but had to keep the man of the people pipe confection.
Age shows in these posts.

is that not what MOST political parties do manouvre trusted lieutenants into super safe seats - that are only chosen due to being super safe?

that being the case whats your point here if he is simply doing as others always do too.

If you want to have your voice heard and you can choose any seat surely you are going to choose the seat that does the best job if the rules allow it and everyone else does it and it wont annoy enough people to stop you doing that.

is that also not freedom is about that anyone can stand anywhere the want in the country - the only surprising stat is that count binface hasnt tried to get elected in areas with the lowest number of refuise bins per head of population - one would have thought that he would "clean up" if he stood in an area wheer everyone is short of refuse bins.

On the substantive point ("so much for democracy") - candidate stands, people vote. What's the alternative?

Jousting would be more entertaining.

Then there are reality TV shows, stick em all in a jungle and vote them out and get them to eat a wallabie wotsit into the bargain- on second thoughts figuratively they already do that at Westminster.

My alternative view, prompted by having just received a High Court jury notice, is randomly select someone from each area of the UK and force them to do the job for five years- in effect politicians ought to only be people who do not actually want to be politicians.

Just... Don't... Vote... For... Them... If... You... Don't... Want... To....

That's democracy.

Whatever anyone else does/doesn't do is their own business. You're in the wrong place for this type discussion.

I come here to escape from political discussions. The thread on Trump was bad enough.

Well just do not read the water cooler topics.

Given more and more of us work all by ourselves (I go into an office but just me here most days), having an internet natter keeps one slightly more sane (especially if a near social media virgin like myself)

I don't know they are water cooler topics until I've read them!

My late Father in Law had a number of Marcus Aurelius type meditations.
One of them was "Never buy a Clacton car: they're rust buckets".

This time it was an only fans 'model'
If you remember it was a pair of prostitutes recruited by North Korea that murdered kim jong-nam as a supposed YouTube prank.
Hope she ends up in prison, next time it could be acid or a contact poison

Based on Friday debate and the votes after the programme, he is winning the argument even if Reform get no seats.
25% Farage
Labour less than 20%
None of the above came in third at 14%
None of the above added to do not know beat all candidates except Farage.
It is funnier than a POTUS election.
