Can anyone recommend a mono laser duplex printer for a small accountancy business. Needs to have the capacity to print an address label as well. Probably need to print 1,500 pages per year, 1,000 if some are duplex. I need to factor in reliability and cost on toner and what's on the market all look very similar. Thank you for any recommendations.

Not sure if you can still get these, but I have two Brother DCP 7065DN Multifunctional Printers in the house, albeit one has not had that much use. They are reasonably cheap to run and have a decent drum/belt shelf life- the sheet feed scanner is also useful.
Toner is circa £50 and does about 2,600 pages.
I expect they now carry a different model number in the Brother range as I bought the second of the two a fair few years ago now.

Here is the replacement for the Brother DCP7065, it is the
Brother MFC-L2730DW A4 Mono Multifunction Laser Printer

For address labels I would suggest a dedicated Brother printer - these are nice and cheap (<£50) and are easier than using a big laser to produce single labels.
For example QL700B - £40 at present - https://www.ebuyer.com/899660-brother-ql-700b-address-label-printer-incl... (other suppliers are available).
Olivetti do a range of Mono duplexing printers with really economical running costs

Since they came out I've been on Samsung M3000 series
Current is M3320ND
No probs - any paper incl 16-up address labels - duplex, booklet etc (which I use a lot for economy) etc.
Best of all they're just discontinued so available at excellent price.
I have an HP laserjet M225 dw - the up to date version is I think the 227. And there is also a networked version if you need one though I can print to this from every computer, laptop & phone in the house! Had it about 4 years & no complaints.
The toners are about £40 if you wait for HP's cashback deals & buy 4 at a time - which lasts me about 2 years!
Sometimes there is also cashback deals on the printers themselves or extended warranty or some other deal if you buy direct from HP - I always go to market but apart from Amazon sometimes, their prices are often the best. (Hint - joining their 'business club' for free gets you 15% off the standard prices).
Anything brother should be good. Go for DN spec (duplex, networked) this means it can plug into your network and not be dependent a on a PC being switched on. It also means that it can be printed to wirelessly via the network. Brother do an app for this for phones.
My last two have come from ebay one a refuirb having only done 3000 prints and none duplex - the other new discontinued stock.
Based on what you have said I would recommend a brother but have a look at www.printerland.co.uk for ideas. It may be work having an MFP, that is one with a sheet feed scanner.
As to printing labels look at the Dymo 450 Label Printer. Runs from outlook or word - for us a massive time saver. Just bough one from ebay for £40
