Email portal problem

Client wants to be able to forward emails sent to him via portal.

Didn't find your answer?

We have recently started to use StayPrivate as an email portal and have used it for a handful of clients where payslips or accounts etc. are attached. One client has complained that he has always kept copies of emails from/to us in one folder on his system (believed to be Outlook). He now cannot do this as the emails we send via StayPrivate cannot be forwarded - there is only a reply button. StayPrivate have advised that there are security reasons why they do not enable forwarding but is there an alternative portal provider that does allow forwarding?

Not sure this would be possible as it would defeat the objective of the communication being secure.

That's what StayPrivate said, but the client correctly states that what happens after I have transmitted the email to him should be his decision not mine and that he thinks StayPrivate is being obstructive. So I am looking for alternatives that will permit the forwarding of emails.

I'm not sure its fair to accuse StayPrivate of being obstructive for being secure . This is back to the question of secure v convenience.
Could you perhaps encrypt the attachments but not the email (StayPrivate has this option) ? That way the message from StayPrivate to the client will be readable by him/her in his/her normal email client and they will only have to visit the portal to get the attachment which can be downloaded.

Having said all of that wouldn't it be just as easy in that case to password the ( I presume) pdf before attaching it - agree a password with the client ? keep any sensitive data out of the email body.

Now if we could only get an outlook addin to auto-password protect/encrypt attachments.

Have a look at Sharefile by Citris - use business edition. It encrypts both email and attachment . You client will receive and retain the email.

If fowarded I assume he will have to use same password.

In our practice, we use Cloud Ark (A secure and GDPR compliant file storage and online CRM to manage our client communications). This has a built in messaging system which we use as secure replacement for email. Messages can be both forwarded and replied to; it may be worth you checking that out as an alternative to StayPrivate?

Dave
