Employee made redundant

Didn't find your answer?

Can employer take back an employee they made redundant last month and put him straight back on furlough and can he keep his redundancy pay?

If a P45 has been submitted I doubt a claim under CJRS would be successful. I would refer the client to an employment lawyer for any other questions.

There was provision at the start of CJRS to do as you suggest. It protected the income of the former employee with no cash cost to the employer.

From August, employers can no longer claim the NI, and from September, they will have to contribute a share of the furlough pay. Given there is a cost to the employer, I'm not sure why they would wish to rehire and refurlough staff.

I also think that there is significant risk of DIYers only paying staff the furlough reclaim figure as their wages in the last two months.
