Employee travel tax relief

Care workers with no fixed workplace

Hi,

I would like to know if employed care workers are entitled to tax relief for travel from their own home to that of their care recipients. These carers have no fixed place of work. Are they affected by the rules saying that workers under SDC cannot claim for travel to a temporary workplace?

Thanks in advance.

I vote no.

If that's not home to work mileage, I don't know what is.

Thanks, but if there is no fixed place of work then it's not ordinary commuting and I thought tax relief would apply then.

A fixed place of work can be an area, and is not necessarily a single location.

How could you possibly disagree with all that technical analysis that the OP gave??

I believe I asked a reasonable question, without the intention of going into a lot of detail. Thanks to those who provided constructive responses.
