Employer pays for employees family health benefits

Should this go through the payroll

Didn't find your answer?

If the employer pays for private medical insurance for the employee's wife and kids

This will be taxed through the employee payroll ?

In what way do you think it would be taxed?

Taxed through payroll or on P11D, but taxed one way or another.

In other words, as a BiK (provided to the employee) - whether via being Payrolled or via P11D after yr-end.

In which case it’s a P11D (or payrolled) benefit but in any event with Class 1 NI applied.
