Employment Allowance company limited by guarantee

Can a company limited by guarantee claim the employment allowance?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all,

A company limited by guarantee has one director on the payroll.  Can the company claim the employment allowance of £3,000 from 6 April 2016?

Many thanks,

Meg

No - the company cannot claim the EA, assuming that you mean that there is only one person, the director, on the payroll and that there has never been another person on the payroll during 2016/17.
The company being limited by guarantee, rather than by shares, is irrelevant.

Thanks Euan, although I did hope that the answer would be yes!

Yes, I did mean that there is only the director on the payroll and that there has never been another person on the payroll during 2016/17. Apologies that I did not make that clear in my question.

Kind regards,
Meg
