error - Whillans or HMRC website?

error - Whillans or HMRC website?

Didn't find your answer?

The cars, vans and related benefits on page 76 of my 2012/13 Whillans Tax Tables, bought at ridiculous cost, does not agree with HMRC's website.  My client's tax code has been prepared using the HMRC figures so I am guessing Whillans is wrong.

Has anyone else noticed this?  Which is correct?

online Whillans

I don't know about the printed version as we're not getting them but the online version of Whillans is showing £3,000 for a van + £550 for van fuel - the same as HMRC website.

CO2 emissions

It is the CO2 emissions and % BIKs that don't agree with HMRC....

Still looks OK

Sorry, just picked out the word 'van' for some reason.

Nope, still seem to match to HMRC figures. You can always do the calculation to see whether the figures are off... for 12/13 every 5 g/km of emissions equals +1% point (starting from 100 g/km and 11%)

I have

Both the Budget and Finance Act Editions of the paper books.  I can't see any problem with their rates.  Are you using the online benefit calculator on HMRC's website?

I have the budget 2012 edition

my co2 figures are all out by 1%.

so per Whillans, co2 emissions not exceeding 120g/km in 2012/13 for a petrol car is 15%.  On HMRC's page it is 14%.  All of them are out by 1%.  And all of the previous years too...

unless my eyes have gone completely squiffy this afternoon.

Which page are you looking at on HMRC?

The manuals state that for emissions of 100 and over the rate is 11%.  You then increase the percentage by 1% for each 5g/km the emissions exceeds 100.  If the emissions are 120, then the additional charge is 4%.

The Online car tax calculator shows 15% for a vehicle with 120 emissions

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/eimanual/eim24655.htm

If you are finding 14% as the rate on the Revenue website, it looks like whatever page you are viewing is wrong

The rate is rounded DOWN, even though it say not exceeding!

See the notes under the table.

Edit: Sorry this comes across really harsh, obviously not intended!
