I am an ex emplyee of HMRC, currently looking for work in the private sector. I have worked in HMRC for the past 30 years, in various business streams including Debt Managmeent & Recovery, ITSA , Corporation Tax, Tax Credits and VAT. I have also completed the relevant VAT Inspectors Training (AAT level 4 TAX) and had worked as a VAT Inspector for the past few years before leaving the department a short while ago. In addition to this work experience, I am also studying towards gaining some professional qualifications (AAT level 2 & 3, Accounting & Finance Diploma -level 7) in order to boost my tax and accounting knowledge and any career prospects.
Can anyone please recommend me any websites that might be looking to hire ex HMRC staff ?

I would set up on your own. There are loads of VAT issues around at the moment so you wouldn’t be short of work.
Might help if you gave an idea of geographical location.
I live in the UB6 area.

VAT is not going away and so not difficult to find a role in practice or you can consider working for yourself. Try LinkedIn for starters if looking for a practice/in-house role, narrow your search to your area.
The only caveat to note is that taxpayers want a very different kind of service to the one HMRC supplies, taxpayers want practical advice and solutions, whereas HMRC don't usually do that, so you just need to remember the customer expectation is different (ie, taxpayers actually want to talk to you!)
….and good luck to you with your future plans.
I agree with other people advising you to set up on your own and also to use LinkedIn as a way of displaying your knowledge.
Why not target accountancy firms who would use you as a specialist adviser?
One area you may be weak in is marketing. LinkedIn is full of free advice from some very good advisers, so you'll need to do a lot of work there.
