Fuel Benefit Charge on Hybrid Cars

Didn't find your answer?

Has anyone had experience with Hybrid Electric cars where the employee is arguing that they only use their electric to get to and from work and at the weekends so that the only fuel that is being bought by the company is being used on company business? If so, what sort of records are kept to prove this?

No records required. The employee is full of [***] and should be told to either pay the BIK or buy his own fuel.

Got to be a wind-up - surely?

(The post I mean, not the car)

Is it April 1st already?
I am not an expert on all hybrids but I am on the one I drive. You can not set it to drive only electrically at any time because the vehicle is incapable of doing so, but you can set it to drive petrol only.

What about the battery charging that takes place when running drawing both petrol and electric at that point, their logic is flawed, energy cannot be created from nothing?

(One of the owners here has two early Honda Insights (possible future classics?)which charge the batteries as you drive (using petrol))

Unless... they've perfected perpetual motion. Which, if that's the case: the OP needs to monetise it ASAP.

Tell the employee "Good luck with that one".

Job done.
