Fee for paying VAT using a debit card

Fee for paying vAT using a debit card

Didn't find your answer?

Despite it saying on screen that no card fee will be charged for using a debit card to pay VAT, the client has been charged a fee at 0.06% for paying an amount of deferred VAT from QE 29/2/20, using a debit card. Has anyone come across this before? The amount is less than £3, but still, why?

There is a fee for a corporate debit card, no fee for a personal debit card

A question raised here regularly.

Whether the card is business or personal is the key.

Thank you all. I now find that, from November 2020, business debit cards used to pay VAT (and I think other taxes) are charged a fee calculated by a complicated formula. This explains why this is the first one I've met.
