Filing Only Service

Does anyone operate or know of a practice that offers a filing only service

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

I took over a practice from a lady who retired in November and she had 2 clients which were due tax returns for January 2018.  I applied for AML supervison through HMRC in November and was told that I could practice while my applicaton was pending and that it would be processed in time for the Januray deadline.  To cut a long story short after much going backwards and forwards through vairous departments with HMRC via emails and phone calls, it turns out that while you can run a business and submitt Tax returns while your AML is pending you are not allowed to be issued with an agent authorisation code.  To make matters worse the AML department are experienceing a back log and although my application has been priotised as urgent they are unable to give me any idea how long it will take to be processed. I have completed the returns for 2 clients but I am unable to file them.  HMRC has agreed extensions for both clients but I really want to get these filed ASAP.

I was just wondering if anyone runs or knows of a Filing only service as a Google search has proved fruitless?

When you say a ‘filing only service’, whoever it is will have to set your client up on their systems, go throug AML & engagement, enter the SA details into their software etc - if it’s being filed via their Agent Ref then they have to account for the procedural admin. I suspect that you’re looking for a c£30-£50 option, which just won’t exist.

Have you tried just setting up ‘individual’ Government Gateway accounts for each of them (rather than using your agent one) using your email/mobile number? That’s what we do when we need to file a VAT Return when there’s no time to get the authorisation code.

Isn't the extension designed to give HMRC time to issue the authorisation code? If so there is no problem that requires a solution.
If HMRC fails to issue the code in time they should agree to an extension of the extension.
