Final accounts date when closing limited company

Does strike off date have to be the same as final accounts date

Didn't find your answer?

I have a client that ceased trading on 19/10/19.  They have very simple affairs so will apply to be struck off 3 months after this date.  My question is what date can I prepare the final accounts and tax return to.  Could I do these to the end of November to allow for final adjustments or does the final accounts date have to be the same as the apply for strike off date, effectively being 19/1/20?

Many thanks

You need final accounts for HMRC to the date of cessation of the trade. They can be less formal than usual. A pdf will do, for instance.

Companies House don't need your accounts. Problem solved.
