Financial benefit award for director?

Financial benefit award

Didn't find your answer?

My client, a contractor working as a single-director limited company, has found the following:

https://www.gov.uk/expenses-and-benefits-employee-suggestion-schemes

and thinks she can use it to get £5,000 tax free because she came up with the idea of contracting directly with end clients instead of going through an agency.

She seems to think this is a "genuine innovation" because her "normal work" involves seeking contracts through intermediaries.

My thoughts are that seeking contracts is part of her normal work, and that this cannot be something contractors can claim because if it were, every contractor client I have would be claiming it.

Anyone have any definitive links/guidance one way or the other on whether a company director can use this mechanism to claim an employee benefit award for themself? Thanks!
