First accountant in space?

Boldly go where William Shatner might make it to if he lives long enough

Didn't find your answer?

Unless some anorak is going to tell us that there has been one already, I would suggest that a crowdfund be established to send the first accountant into space. The candidate will be selected from those who reply to this thread stating in less than 50 words why they should be the first acountant in space.

Pick me - I like to travel
Or don't pick me as I am not very good on rollercoasters...
Pick me - I speak a few languages including a few phrases in Klingon which could come in handy!

I'd be more inclined to enter the competition if, as a winner, I could nominate someone else to send into space ... and it'd be cheaper as I wouldn't insist on a return leg.
On the other hand, I suspect I'm now teetering on the edge of Aweb protocol ... so back to the dream!

You beat me to it. Although the person that I have in mind is already on another planet (and in any event I’m not sure that he would qualify as an “accountant” in space).

For Hugo's suggestion I would nominate anyone who thinks quarterly reporting is a good idea for small businesses.

Albeit this probably automatically excludes all actual accountants........anyone who has ever run a business......or probably done any accounts at all in any capacity.

Anyone who thinks it is a good idea already has their head in the clouds and/or is 'spaced' out

Pick Me
I noticed that there is now an MTD category and that COVID has been binned
Which means that I noticed your request as such, but only half completed

There is also the decidedly non-PC one: Why was Lt Uhura brown?

I'm struggling with that one... I have a tenuous idea but it isn't funny and is NSFW (though in the scatalogical sense rather than the path I suspect the joke is taking).

I feel the answer has something to do with removing Klingons...

Those who have read the HHGTTG series may appreciate why encouraging the rest of the population to send accountants into space may not end well, for the accountants that is.

Once they send one they might be encouraged to send a lot more.

I think a safer path is a low profile, for myself once I fully retire I will create a legend for myself that does not include debits or credits to hopefully escape the inevitable cull.

I should be the first accountant in space because ...
Well if anything, I could use the time to ponder the tax implications for all associated parties involved in said crowdfunding campaign and space exploration project.

Oh and I'd like a trip to space, just so I have an excuse to go to parties and bring it up.

If you are going to do it then do it quick. After 2024 all space flights will require 5 take-offs, the first 4 test flights will be every 3 months but will not go anywhere, and the final one will be the actual take-off that will be nothing to do with the first 4. The increased costs for the space travellers are a matter of debate, as is the benefit they will gain from the four test flights.

Belated thanks for all the comments, tasteful and otherwise. Unfortunately the Virgin Galactic "Accountants Special" Black (hole in the accounts) Friday offer had sold out by the time I heard about it.
