Forensic Accounting is an advanced, specialist area and in my opinion, you should obtain a “mainstream” professional accounting qualification first.

Where did the OP say that they’re not already?
I entirely agree with the above. You need to become an accountant first. Then when you have mastered the art of preparing or auditing accounts you can think about whether you want to apply the skills you have acquired in the forensic arena.
Why do you want to ?? Apart from the fact it can be highly paid

Thanks for the name check!
I would say that forensic accountancy is a niche within accountancy. A more broadly based knowledge and experience of accountancy matters is an essential pre-requisite.
Essentially forensic accountancy involves offering your opinions in court proceedings (either criminal or civil). But the court (or your instructing lawyer) is going to want you to be able to demonstrate why your opinions, as an accountant, might be worth hearing - and of course in court you may be questioned by someone intent on demonstrating that they are not!
