Form NRL1i. Attention HMRC

Form NRL1i. Attention HMRC

Didn't find your answer?

What used to be form NRL1 is now only available online as form NRL1i.

It is not possible to print out a blank form beforehand to ascertain what information is required to complete it.

It must be completed online, then printed out, signed by the landlord and posted to HMRC.

Using Chrome I have completed all the boxes but the Preview button on the last page fails to operate so it is not possible to print out the form nor to save it.

Does anyone have a solution ?

If I retrieve a blank copy of the previous form NRL1 from the web archive will HMRC accept it ?

Use another browser

Not ideal I appreciate, but it is not like you will have to pay for a browser that should be compatible. If you post a link to the form that is giving you a problem, I can just run a dummy set of data to verify if it works in the browser I use.

You need to report the issue on the HMRC site as well, really. They may pick it up here but no guarantees.

I just completed one recently. It works on Internet explorer but not Chrome. I initially had trouble with chrome and spoke to HMRC who advised that it doesn't work on Chrome. They told me to use Explorer.

Firefox

I can confirm I was able to preview the completed form successfully under the latest version of Firefox.

Not impressed

After two hours I finally got the form to print out using Firefox. The actual form is very clunky to complete as it takes an appreciable time for each typed character to appear in on screen; similar to using a homebrew computer from the late 1970s.

HINT if there isn't a separate box delineated for each digit within the date of birth box 'dd mm yyyy' then the form is not working properly.

Even so, to get the form to print you need to input a date for when the form is signed (a future date is not permitted) so where does that leave things as the NRL I'm working on is in Australia at present.

Electronic signature?

Do HMRC accept electronic signatures or are they still in the 20th Century?

Not good

That it doesn't work with Chrome is one thing, but not being able to save a copy of the filled in form is terrible.

So I have to complete it, print it out, then scan it back in so I can email the completed form for my client to sign it and return to HMRC.  Then if he spots an error, start the whole process again.

Also, as his appointed (and being a registered) agent, why can't we complete and submit this on client's behalf?

I do wonder who designs this rubbish, perhaps HMRC can spin out the reasoning behind such a terrible process.

Hey Guys
YES - HMRC are not helpfull in this matter - they had no ideas to help with the same issue.
Try the following on CHROME - it worked for me.
1. Ignore their instructions for Mac and Chrome
2. Fill out the form ( page 1- next... page 2 next etc...)
3. When you get to the end hit 'Preview'
4. This will generate a randomly numbered (7527b2bbcbc8diueuyru7f) file....in a document manager.
5. What will appear on screen is your 'compiled' form with all the fields you filled in. ( for me 11 pages )
6.Print this immediately ! :)
7.Now right click and 'save as' ( you should have the option now to save as .pdf ( save with a meaningful name to your downloads folder )
8. I feel your pain - did this three times with three different browsers following HMRC advice - this incidentally was their only idea - that and to tell me it was my browser setting nothing to do with their website info - at NO point did they say hit 'Preview'. Hopefully someone from HMRC reads this and makes teh necessary amendments to get the page into the 21st century.
