Free P11D Software - is there a market?

Is there a market for a free P11D product?

Didn't find your answer?

We recently added P11D support to Staffology Cloud Payroll.

You can actaully create an account and submit P11Ds for free as our charging is based on payslips only.

This got me thinking - we could quite easily build a stripped down interface specifically for creating and filing P11Ds and make it available for free (benefit to us is getting the brand out there and trying to upsell you on to the full payroll software)

But with Payrolled Benefits (which we'll soon support) becoming more popular (I assume), is there a market for a product thats just does P11Ds?

its normally part of your payroll software so I doubt it would have a lot of value.

That said, I still see handwritten P11D's from time to time. I have no idea why.

I'm guessing HMRC will be insisting on the pay-rolling of benefits in the not too distant future.

Based on the replies, I suspect there's not an opportunity here then.

Just because we can doesn't mean we should!

Thanks for the responses.

Now that HMRC is withdrawing the PDF online product, for people like me a free product for P11Ds and P11D(b)s would be good and I would then consider the payroll product as well as I only have three payroll and a total of 4 employees so am looking for a straightforward solution.

Payrolling benefits is only possible if one signs up before the tax year so for any payroll where there have not been benefits before, there needs to be a P11D the first year.

As per https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/tax/business-tax/hmrc-retires-online-p11... from only a fortnight ago, HMRC is trying to get rid of P11Ds ... so it's hardly a growth market for a software developer.

And it sounds like Staffology have come to that conclusion judging by another post from a fortnight ago ... https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-answers/staffology-p11d-problem

Can you recommend a straightforward cost effective package for 3 companies with 4 employees able to deal with a mix of monthly and annual payrolls for directors which also has a standalone calculation (check / what if?) function and can produce a single P11D each year? When I looked a few years ago there was very little suitable at a reasonable price but things may have changed. Some systems are very hard work and not that intuitive especially when using infrequently.

Looks like it's pay for better software or start payrolling the benefits.

Plenty recommended on here. I dont know your definition of reasonable, other than you want it for free. If you use payroll software infrequently and cannot get a grip with the software then maybe consider farming the work out.

Nomisma do a payroll package at £3 + VAT a month per company, so your cost would be would be £108 + VAT annually.

Moneysoft

Off the top of my head it costs around £150 (we dont use it, but looked at it as a cheap P11D filer)

Thank you. I used to use Moneysoft but it doesn't support annual payrolls which was a great pity. I liked it.
