Fuel Mileage Claim in Tax Return

How does it work for company car

Didn't find your answer?

Hi everyone,

I am doing my tax return, and had a company car for the tax year but paid for my own fuel. My employer paid me 13p per mile, but I've read that I can claim up to 45p per mile, but I'm not sure if this is only for personal cars and not company cars? Is this correct? cheers

45p is where you own the car - which you don't.

13p is about right - but the exact rates change every quarter and depend on the size and fuel type of your car. Check the right rate for you on the HMRC website.

You've had 9½ months to sort this out...........

but don't worry you still have 9 1/2 days to sort it...

assuming HMRC's web site doesn't go down of course!
