Furlough application for employee without NINO

Has anyone applied for furlough for an employee without an NINO

Didn't find your answer?

Hi,

One of my client's employee doesn't have a NINO. I have tried calling HMRC and each time they say that someone will call back to do the application on phone but no luck to date.

Has anybody faced a similar situation? And how did you get around it? Our furlough application from March is pending.

Any pointers witll be appreciated.

Many thanks

GJ

I have used (& the claims have been paid) AB123456A for employees with no NINO. As I have 3 on one furlough claim, I use AB123456B, and AB123456C for the other 2.

Claims have been paid for March/April & May for this client, so HMRC appear ok with it.

That sounds like a good idea. The client is frustrated that the claims haven't gone through so maybe as last resort I will try this.
Thanks for the tip.

I've done similar with one employee, and it's been paid twice with no issue.

I have only phoned HMRC and they have sorted there and then. It can be a lengthy process, but I have done this twice now. I was advised that I shouldn't use a false NINO, but whether it creates a long-term issue, I don't know.

That's quite lucky. I have been waiting for 2 months now. Not sure what's going on. But thanks for the info. Will try calling them again.

I initially submitted a claim excluding the NINOless employee then phoned to amend the claim (to add him).
When you phone, you'll need all the details from your original claim as well as your Agent ID reference.
