Furlough claims without agent authority

Furlough claims without agent authority

Didn't find your answer?

We have a client for which we are having problems getting HMRC agent authority , we applied online and it was rejected we applied via a 64-8 and nothing has happened then the HMRC sent an email saying the details dont match the efiling authority. Can we submit the furlough claims without being the authorised agent, we already prepare the company payroll. We've had no luck getting through on the phone to sort this out.

How would you propose doing so?

If it's via the client's own gateway login, I would suggest you'd be better getting added as agents through that and filing as yourself, access takes all of couple of hours at most to come through.

Is it not easier doing the work and sending the details to the client to file
as they should be able to set up a gov gateway to do it.

The filing bit is the easy bit and only takes 5 minutes and most clients could manage it, even do it as a share screen on zoom.

Unfortunately this isn't most clients, we will have to set up a government gateway for them and do it that way, definitely not something that we can leave this client to do.

I've reluctantly had to use the clients logint for 1 client as HMRC had an old addy for PAYE and that caused authorisation difficulties; hopefully it will be sorted by next round of claims
