Furlough clawback

Furlough clawback

Didn't find your answer?

A client mentioned that his wife is employed by a large travel agent and, whilst she has been kept on and is working from home, redundancies have been made as well as furlough as the employer believes that furlough payments for those subsequently made redundant will be clawed back.

Does anyone know if this is correct?

I'm sure I've read some guidance saying it would be ok to furlough someone then lay them off immediately after furlough.

My thoughts are that the company concerned may have been looking to treat the furlough pay period as part of the redundancy package rather than this starting at the end of the furlough period then being fully payable by the employer i.e. no gov contribution to redundancy, which would make sense.

Have been made?

Have they been on furlough for at least 3 weeks?
