I have a client whose main income is through self employment but she also has a small salary from her own company. I haven't seen anything precluding a claim under both, has anyone else seen that it can't be done? Her s/e is much the greater part of her income so I will be encouraging her just to await that claim but I would rather be able to quote a ban on both at her if such a thing exists.

Yes. Why not?
Does she pay her salary through a PAYE scheme ?? If not then she can't claim the 80%
yes she does pay herself through a payroll scheme so I believe she's entitled to both, it just doesn't feel right to have 2 bites of the cherry when some are falling between the cracks and getting nothing.
Folk with one full time job could be making more that folk with two part time jobs.
Either way, it's not your role to make those ethical decisions. The client, on the other hand, may choose to do so. Or, they may claim and donate the money to some local worthy cause. A food bank, happen.
