GDPR and Business Insurance

Didn't find your answer?

Search AccountingWEB

I have recently set up and understand that I need to have some business insurance in place. After speaking to an insurance broker the insurers require that I have a GDPR procedure in place, can anyone advise how to go about this? Is there a template that can be used?

Best place to start is with your prof body.

Assuming you may not have a professional body, go to the Information Commissioner's website. They have piles of bumpf there.

The OP's website speaks of "qualified personnel" - although admittedly the qualifications could be cycling proficiency and not anything accounting-related.

A good start would be to visit the ICO website and understand your obligations.

Your post reads as if you are only purchasing insurance (presumably professional indemnity) after you have started providing services to clients. I'm sure that can't be the case since your professional body will require you to have PII to gain a practicing certificate/licence.

I would definitely agree you should start with your professional governing body or a quick call to them or the ICO website https://ico.org.uk/.
