Good system for practice management and workflow

Could someone recommend some stand alone software for practice management and work flow planning

My small practice has reached the point (I’ve gone from just me to me and 3 staff!) where I need to set up more formal systems for controlling work flow, ensuring target dates are met for Accounts, VAT and Tax Returns etc and to properly allocate staff time to jobs and clients.

At the moment I just use a simple master excel spreadsheet with work to do in red and work when completed in green! I need something a bit more sophisticated but still relatively simple to  use.

Tempted by old fashioned T cards but I think the world has possibly moved on!!

Have you looked at Accountancy Manager?

Senta, Accountancy Manager or Glide.

We use Glide to manage jobs, timesheets, tasks and automatic chasing of records.

At least be good enough to advise that your post is a shameless plug for your own software.

In my own practice and a practice I consult to we use Senta
https://www.senta.co/gb/

Both are small practices. the software is very intuitive in the tasks and very tailorable so that you can make it work the way you want it to

I'm not quite in your position (no staff yet!) but I was having problems controlling workflows. Then I discovered Senta! An amazing piece of software that has changed my working life immeasurably.

I'm probably going to go next for ScheduleIt so I can better control my own time. The beauty is that Senta, Office 365 and ScheduleIt can all talk to each other through Zapier.

Does anyone use accountancy manager but also uses a paperless solution like virtual cabinet?

I'm quite keen in seeing if you find there is a lot of overlap between the features?

Trello & Insightly - both free but need to customise.

It needs to be adapted, but I use Trello. Free to start with and can be upgraded. Has the advantage that as cloud based can be used on your smartphone or tablet and enables team management as well as work management. Time deadlines can be added and monitored as needed. Another piece of software that can be used is Drop Task. This one has the advantage that it can email your time dependent tasks on a daily basis so you are alerted to anything critical at the start of the day.

Yes Trello is very flexible - the biggest issue I encountered is that on completion of the first task ( say a VAT return to 30th June 2018) you have to manually generate the next tax ( eg the card for the next VAT return for that client). I'd be interested to know how you deal with that aspect in your Trello setup?

Thanks for the Drop Task reference - I'll have to look into that .

I'm a huge fan of Senta too, though I wish their 'todo' list was better. Maybe this will improve with the promised email Triage system as, at the moment, when an email comes in with a task I have to copy and paste it into Senta to create a task or job.
