Happy Yorkshire Day!

Didn't find your answer?

Happy Yorkshire Day, people.

Free fish and chips on offer at Hillside Fisheries for anyone in a flat cap and accompanied (unhygenically) by a whippet.

The fun is endless.

If you happen to be around Ackworth I take it?

My mate's ex-wife was doing him Yorkshire pudding followed by a beef dinner this afternoon. Note this is two courses, not one.

Staple diet when I were a lad. Never see it nowadays though.

I'm an adopted Yorkshireman in that I moved to Sheffield about 5 years ago. I think that I can get a flat cap and whippet for the day. Will I qualify?

Probably. We went past at dinner time (that's around 1 pm) but there were no dogs of any breed.

Flagrant advertising.

Trying to sell surplus whippets. Is there an EU whippet mountain?

Never ask anyone if they're from Yorkshire.

If they're not, it will only embarrass them.

If they are, they'll tell you soon enough.

Happy belated Yorkshire Day and trust it all went well.

Afraid we did not celebrate with you up here but we did at least have Yorkshire puddings with our roast chicken on Sunday, albeit as foreigners we obviously did not eat them as a distinct course; then again I am sure lots of people from Yorkshire do not drink their whisky properly (absolute maximum water ratio being 50% of the whisky, 33% of the total, but less is more often more)

Don't forget Sir Geoffrey Boycott - born in Fitzy (Fitzwilliam to non-locals) & played for Ackworth Cricket Club, I'm sure Sir Geoff would have got free fish & chips from Hillside Fisheries without a flat cap or a whippet!
