Has anyone tried Moneysoft's Money Manager

Didn't find your answer?

I use Moneysoft's Payroll Manager and find it great value for money.  Just wondered if anyone had any experience of Money Manager.  I currently have clients using VT transaction, Kashflow, QuickBooks online and Sage and am happy to work with whatever software best meets the clients needs.  With MTD some may need to switch so looking at possible alternatives - preferably offering value for money and good support.

Yes. However, it wasn't for me.
That being said, I also have the Payroll Manager and find it invaluable.
For book-keeping I use VT Transaction + and, whilst I understand the potential concerns, as regards the introduction of MTD, I take the view that other Cloud providers will provide a platform, where ongoing (possibly non-Cloud arrangements) could be copied/cut and pasted for regular submission. In the digital age, most needs can be resolved.

I tried it a few years ago, and thought it was dreadful. The client who was using it loved it, but I couldn't get on with it at all and agreed with the client that if he wanted to keep using it he should find another accountant.

You have to try it for yourself - one man's meat etc

We use it. In fact we have used it since its introduction in the late 90s.

See nothing wrong with it personally. We do only use it for small smes, we have other software for Ltd companies for example.

I find the entries for income and expenses to be the simplest out of every software out there. It can file vat returns via the gateway also.

What it isn't, is cloud based nor compliant with MTD other than the option to export cvs to excel.

If you want a free cloud based accounting software you could look at wave. You can also pay for additional add ons like receipt scanners and linking to bank feeds.

Not a fan of money manager personally. You can’t get a decent TB from it, you have to piece together a TB as it only really records income and expense categories. It does give you bank, Vat, creditors, debtors balances all as one Year end TB.
Re VAT, it won’t pick up anything you backdate into a previous quarter like most other software will.
My personal opinion is a good spreadsheet cashbook is as good as Money Manager. Or just use money manager for simple non-vat registered businesses.

You are correct regarding input of back dated invoices. The only work around for that is to input it into current vat quarter and state an as date in the description. Not ideal but only way really.
