Have HMRC outsourced call centre to Poland.

HMRC website just gives duff information.

Didn't find your answer?

I have submitted 3 VAT registraions in last 3 weeks, 2 have come through within 48 hours, the first one I did has not come through.

On the website it states "Do not contact them within 14 days" Its now about 21 days so contacted them and spoke to some surly eastern European type. Who clearly had very little grasp of anything. I gave him the application reference but he said he didnt need that. He then said not to contact him until it was beyond 28 days. I asked why it was 28 days when it was 14 days on the website and that others tend to get dealt with within 48 hours.

Reply - 28 Days.

I then said is their a query on it as I could resolve that when on the phone.

Why does website say you deal with VAT Reg in 14 days if it actually takes 28 days.

Thanks very much you have been absolutly no help at all

Reply 28  .........

Have all the HMRC who at least roughly know how to use the system now been seconded to this BRexit work which has delayed the roll out of MTD and ironically they have shipped in a load of EU workers to man the phone lines so badly that people just dont bother to call them.

To be fair to him, none of them seem to have a clue. Not just the Eastern Europeans.

HMRC don't deserve any respect any more.

Ironically, it all started going downhill when we became "customers".

No good complaining, of course. No-one's listening.
