Have you received your SA submission software yet?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi All

Since it is the first day of the tax year, I wanted to find out how many of you have already received a copy of the Self Assessment return submission software for 2017. We are still waiting to receive ours. If you have already received yours, can you please let us know what tax software you use?

Thank you for your help.

Not yet, but I have downloaded the 2017 SATR and notes from HMRC for a quick familiarisation.

Taxfiler is all good to go. It's a bit much if your provider isn't ready.

Thank you very much.

I have just checked IRIS/PTP OpenTax and -

CT600 due to be ready no later than 13th April 2017
SA100 and other SA to be ready before the end of May
Partnership & Trusts have no issue date at all as yet.

I wonder if I am using the right software?

I am also now seriously concerned about the ability of IRIS to deliver reliable and accurate MTD software.

End of MAY for SA software? That sounds crazy - IRIS charge far too much to be behind like that surely?!

"UPDATES FOR 2016-17 TAX YEAR

The 2016-17 tax software for your cloud tax solution is on it’s way. Due to the complexities of the legislation we will be delivering these updates in phases to you.

Corporation Tax (CT600 etc.) will automatically be updated for you next week, no later than 13th April 2017. Individuals Self-Assessment (SA100 etc.) is currently scheduled for automatic update before the end of May 2017, as soon as we have a date for this we will provide you with an update. Currently we have no delivery date for Partnership or Trust Self Assessment (SA800 & SA900 respectively). We appreciate that this is not ideal and does not match the high standards users of all other IRIS products experience.

At IRIS, everything we do is focused on understanding our clients’ challenges and working to solve them. As part of this commitment, we have setup a dedicated team to answer any questions and discuss the options available to you. We are actively calling all our customers regarding this and will be in contact shortly, however if you would like to speak to someone sooner please call 0344 406 8168."

Complex or not, everyone else seems to have managed.

Wow, really? How can practitioners wait until end of May to complete their first SA Rtn? You are kidding right?

The text is copied and pasted and I am not kidding.

There must now be a huge question mark about the ability of IRIS to develop and maintain MTD software.

I had been looking to adopt KashFow as the standard for my practice but seeing that other developers have managed to provide 2017 SA software already, I think I'll have to think it out again.

Filed my first two today, and sent out half a dozen.

Taxfiler.

Given the subs are only £10 a month for the 50 licence, you can always get a copy of that while you wait for IRIS to get around to doing their job to keep your refund clients happy. Its only takes a few minutes per client to key it in....

I should add, you have been able to prepare (but not print) tax returns in taxfiler for at least 2 weeks, so I have had a few stacked up. We normally do 30+ fairly simple returns in April, usually lovely nice organised clients too.

I had webchat with IRIS this morning and asked when returns for 2017 available. Later today, I was told.
Not entirely honest or efficient then...

Just been on phone with Iris and they say download now available for version 17. Will upload tonight when all staff have left - let's hope it's a working version!

PTP phoned me this morning to say the software is ready for download. I'm leaving it until this evening when no one else is in the office otherwise someone is bound to try and use the software midway through the upgrade. I received their email this afternoon saying it's ready for download. Nothing about CT not being available. I'm using the desktop version.

I installed PTP desktop last night. The update was for CT as well as SA. The new SA software includes APIs for:
• Employment earnings and benefits
• Some state benefits – jobseekers allowance, incapacity benefit etc.
• Marriage allowance
• Class 2 NIC
• Tax refunded or set off by tax office
I've just been contacted by Paul Onions from PTP. Though the APIs are already in the software, they can't become active until they're switched on at HMRC's end. HMRC have told the software developers that HMRC won't switch the APIs on until HMRC have done the 2016-17 payroll reconciliations which won't be until after the P11D deadline of 6 July. In other words 30% of the filing window will have gone before HMRC will let us use the APIs. This raises a question: HMRC said MTD will be tested for 12 months before it goes live - if the APIs don't go live until 06/07/17 then that means MTD can't go live until 06/07/18 which means 06/04/18 to 05/07/18 would have to be returned under SA?

Why ?

The first quarter isn't over until 5 July 2018 so why would submission on 6 July 2018 be a problem ?

It seems that it is the Cloud version of IRIS/PTP OpenTax that is the problem then.

Who would have thought that ?

Just downloaded and updated Iris.

We've been with Iris since pre Self Assessment and they have NEVER let us down.

Expecting first CIS clients tomorrow - and off we go again!

IRIS has let us down. As its OpenTax product cannot produce tax returns until May 2017. If IRIS can decide to do that to one set of their customers, then that can do it again to others.

HMRC have switched on MA and NI APIs. Our software supplier contacted me to test the API agent registration process and setting up 2SV. We tested MA and NI for a live client and yes they do work. We used a "test" version of the software that had the APIs switched on. Hopefully our software supplier will switch the APIs on for all users very soon.

FYI, Gbooks has already added the live data feeds to its system, including the main APIs covering PAYE data.

I haven't used it myself but here's some feedback from a user who has:
